New England in the Fall: The Trip Behind my Paintings “Portland” & “Autumn Lake”
A few years ago, Taylor and I took a trip for our anniversary to New England. Let me tell you, autumn in New England is dreamy. We fell in love with how peaceful it was (especially Maine), and loved just being on the coast.

Lighthouse Views
We love to drive around new places and went to a lighthouse in Portland (Headlight), which is where my painting “Portland” was born! Then we went to the cutest town ever called Kennebunkport (like out of a movie, so cute!!). From there, we drove up to Acadia National Park (which inspired this print! ). We made a tiny mistake in just driving up for the day (way too far of a drive, we should have just stayed there overnight), so we ended up driving back to our hotel in the dark.
But on the drive, we were in the back country and we drove over this pond that was so beautiful I had to stop and photograph it… and it turned into my painting “Autumn Lake”! I love this print so much because it feels exactly like fall. It’s such an autumn color palette, warm and cozy tones with that crisp blue sky.
At Home in New England
One of the highlights of visiting Maine was going to the L.L. Bean store! I’ve always been a huge fan and I was so pumped to get to go to their flagship store! It felt like Disney World to me, haha! It was so fun!
While I often say this about places, I really mean it about New England. It truly feels like somewhere I could live for real. Being on the coast, whether it’s Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine…being by all that water and then having the gorgeous hills and ponds and picturesque towns. I can truly envision myself living there! It was a magical trip for us and I’m so glad I have these prints to remember it by.
